What is the Childwebalert Hotline?
The Childwebalert Hotline is a service offered by Agenzija Appogg that provides an online reporting system where the public can report , in a confidential and secure manner , websites which contain Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). These can be reported by accessing the website www.childwebalert.gov.mt and clicking on the report abuse button which directs you to a reporting form.
What kind of pictures or videos need to be reported?
Your report will help us in:
The childwebalert platform is anonymous and whoever reports a website does not need to provide us with any other information other than the url or website address where he/she encountered this content. Agenzija Appogg are members of Inhope, an international network of Hotlines and through this membership they are authorized to input the urls containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in Inhope’s ICCAM database which is linked with Interpol’s ICSE database. All the reports classified as baseline will be investigated by Interpol. The scope of this is that from a report, the child can be identified and rescued from the abuse also known as victim identification.
Agenzija Appogg are partners in the Besmartonline Project. The project is implemented through a consortium coordinated by the Tech.mt and brings together FSWS Aġenzija Appoġġ, the Office of the Commissioner for Children, the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education (DQSE) particularly the PSCD Department and the Malta Police Force. All partners work together to raise awareness and educate children and teens, carers and educators on the safer use of the Internet whilst also educating minors on its good use.
